How-To Guide

Explore various use scenarios and learn step-by-step instructions for effective use.

Understanding preference of play options

  • Social - casual, enjoyable experience perfect for fun games or for advanced players who wish to mentor beginners

  • Beginner - new players just learning the basics and rules

  • Intermediate - players understand basic rules and strategies, and can control ball direction (i.e. left or right)

  • Advanced - competitive players who understand rules and strategies, and control ball placement (i.e. front or back corner)

*These are meant as guidelines and different facilities may use the options differently, so consult other players at your facility for expected use

Understanding level of play options

  • Beginner - new players just learning the basics and rules

  • 3.0 - understands basic rules and strategies, narrow variety of shots, and can control ball direction (i.e. left or right)

  • 3.5 - knows most of the rules, wide variety of shots, and can somewhat control ball placement (i.e. front or back corner)

  • 4.0+ - competitive players who understand rules and strategies, and control ball placement (i.e. front or back corner)

*These are meant as guidelines and different facilities may use the options differently, so consult other players at your facility for expected use

All courts are full and the paddle rack is empty

  • Place your paddle in the left section and select your play preference/level.

  • Move the ball to the left section, designating that section as next up.

  • The next player to arrive at the rack may place their paddle in the first section if they also want to play at that level, otherwise they should place their paddle in the next section to the right and select their play preference.

All courts are full and the rack has some paddles in it

  • If a section is set for your play preference and has less than 4 paddles in it, place your paddle in that section.

  • If there is not a section with your play preference and space for another paddle, but there is an open section, place your paddle there and select your play preference.

A section of the rack just became available (a group entered play)

  • The first player to place their paddle in the section selects their play preference.

  • If players waiting have the same play preference, they can place their paddle in this section also .

  • If players waiting have a different play preference, they need to wait for another section to become available.

A court just became available

  • The section with the ball gets to take that court as long as the section is full. The players whose paddles are in that section remove their paddles, slide the ball to the next section to the right, and enter the open court.

  • If the section with the ball isn't full, the first full section to the right of them enters the open court and slides the ball to the next section to their right. The group that was not full now needs to wait for the ball to make its way back around. People in the non-full section may choose to change their play preference to combine with another section in order to enter play (consult other players at your facility for acceptable use such as combining paddles with another group).
